Kalshi's Commodities Trading Surpasses Crypto Volumes in Seven Months
Kalshi, a US-based prediction-market startup, has seen its commodities markets outpace its crypto trading in just seven months since launch.
The platform's new commodity-linked contracts have reached a monthly trading volume of over $400 million, with Reuters reporting this is four times faster growth than its crypto markets experienced at the same stage.
Kalshi's co-founder, Tarek Mansour, attributed the jump in commodities trading to better liquidity, which allows for smoother execution and tighter pricing. This, in turn, attracts more traders and makes it easier to launch new markets.
The company has filed for additional markets tied to equity indexes, metals, and West Texas Intermediate crude oil, as well as exploring perpetual futures contracts that can trade continuously without expiring.
