Kalshi's Commodities Trading Volume Soars Past Crypto, Hits $400 Million Monthly Mark
Kalshi's prediction market platform has seen rapid growth in its commodities trading segment, with monthly volumes exceeding $400 million. This figure is four times higher than the cryptocurrency trading volume on the platform at the same point seven months after launch.
The company attributes this success to a boom in retail trading, which pushed Kalshi to adopt commodity prediction markets in products such as oil, gas, and metals. The strong performance has helped the prediction market explore newer asset classes, further boosting trading volumes.
Kalshi co-founder Tarek Mansour said that improved liquidity on the platform was key to its success. He noted that getting liquidity off the ground is challenging due to the need for a large and diverse participation pool.
