Kalshi's Commodity Trade Volume Surpasses $400 Million Monthly
Kalshi's commodity trade volume has surpassed $400 million monthly since its launch seven months ago, outpacing early growth in cryptocurrency trading. This significant milestone comes as a result of retail trading booms and the introduction of commodity prediction markets for assets like oil, gas, and metals.
According to Kalshi co-founder Tarek Mansour, improved liquidity on the platform has benefited commodities trading. 'Liquidity is very hard to get off the ground because of how many people you need participating actively,' he said. 'Now we got there because of this diverse and large participation pool.'
Kalshi's success in commodity trading has also led to a rapid expansion into new asset classes, including perpetual future contracts. The company has filed for equity indexes, metals, and WTI crude oil, following regulatory approval earlier this year.
