Kalshi's Commodity Trading Volume Surpasses $400 Million
Kalshi's commodity trading volume exceeded $400 million in one month, surpassing its cryptocurrency trading volume at a comparable stage by four times. This milestone comes seven months after the startup launched its platform in Singapore.
The company reported strong demand for contracts linked to oil, gas, and metals amid increased retail trading activity. Kalshi's ability to quickly launch and scale new markets contributed to the growth of its commodity business, which demonstrated potential from tens of millions to billions of dollars in monthly trading volume.
Tarek Mansour, co-founder of Kalshi, attributed the faster growth of the commodity business to improved liquidity on the platform. He noted that a large and diverse group of active participants enables users to open and close positions, while allowing the company to launch new contract categories faster.
