Kashkari Advocates Rate Hike Amid Supply Shocks
At the recent Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting, Neel Kashkari dissented from the majority by advocating for a 0.25% increase in the federal funds rate.
Kashkari cited supply shocks as a contributing factor to ongoing inflation levels, which remain above the central bank's 2% target.
The FOMC's decision to keep the rate unchanged in the 3.50% to 3.75% range was approved by a 9-3 vote, highlighting a policy divide within the committee.
