Kazakhstan Allocates $700M to National Crypto Reserve
Kazakhstan has made a significant move in the crypto space by allocating $700 million to its national cryptocurrency reserve. The National Bank Governor, Timur Suleimenov, revealed that the reserve will continue to grow as the country looks to expand its digital asset market.
The regulatory framework for the sector has been in place since May 1, covering various types of digital financial assets, including cryptocurrencies and tokenized assets. Licensed service providers and cryptocurrency exchanges are already operating in the country, allowing banks and financial institutions to launch regulated channels for converting cryptocurrencies into traditional currencies.
According to Suleimenov, it is now as easy as exchanging tenge for dollars, yuan, or euros. The Kazakhstan Stock Exchange (KASE) is developing infrastructure for issuing and trading digital assets, while the Central Securities Depository is building a custody system for them.
