Kazakhstan Courts Binance in Bid to Cement Regional Tech Hub Status
Kazakhstan's Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development Zhaslan Madiyev met with Binance founder Changpeng Zhao in Astana, as part of the country's efforts to accelerate digitalization and AI development. This meeting followed a directive from Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
The discussion centered on Kazakhstan's prospects for a digital economy, advanced technologies, and computational infrastructure. Binance was also presented with the CryptoCity concept in Alatau city and the Data Center Valley project, aimed at establishing Kazakhstan as a regional AI hub.
A partnership between Binance Pay and Alatau City Bank was showcased during the meeting, alongside two memoranda signed with the Ministry of AI and Digital Development and the Astana International Financial Center. Officials said these agreements and infrastructure projects mark a significant step towards implementing digital financial solutions and solidifying Kazakhstan's position as a leading technological hub in the region.
