Kazakhstan has introduced new regulations for cryptocurrency miners that will take effect on August 1, 2026. The government approved an order on July 18, outlining requirements for companies seeking to become strategic miners.
To obtain the status of strategic miner, companies must meet technical and financial criteria, including a dedicated data center with at least 150 MW capacity, mining equipment with a hash rate of at least 150 TH/s per unit, and no debts to the budget.
The authorized body will verify the completeness and accuracy of submitted documents within three working days. If approved, companies must sign contracts with Astana Hub and designated energy-generating companies within five working days.
