Kazakhstan Forges Ahead with Sovereign Crypto Reserve
Kazakhstan has approved the 'Strategic Digital Mining Implementation Rules,' which introduce a framework for tying cheap electricity to mandatory contributions to a newly formed sovereign crypto reserve.
The rules represent a sharp pivot from earlier mining restrictions, allowing strategic digital mining companies to receive electricity quotas at capped rates in exchange for transferring a portion of their mined assets to Astana Hub.
From there, the assets will be managed by a state investment company operating under the National Bank of Kazakhstan, feeding into the country's strategic crypto reserve.
