Kazakhstan Links Mining to National Reserves, Introduces Electricity Supply Quota

Share

The Kazakh government has introduced regulations for 'strategic digital mining' that combines electricity supply for large-scale cryptocurrency miners with contributions to national reserves.

The approved system provides a 10-year electricity supply quota capped at highest rates from power generation companies, starting with the Ekibastuz State District Power Plant Unit 1, which has allocated 300 MW for strategic mining.

In return, operators must transfer a portion of the mined digital assets monthly to the Astana Hub Autonomous Cluster Fund, which will replenish national reserves under the National Investment Corporation's trust management.
