Kazakhstan Revives Crypto Mining with Tax Incentives
Kazakhstan is reviving its cryptocurrency mining industry with tax incentives and new regulations. The move comes after the country became one of the world's largest crypto mining hubs five years ago, but the boom strained the power grid and pushed most miners to leave or operate illegally.
The Kazakh government has signed a decree aimed at encouraging citizens to declare their cryptocurrency holdings and integrate them into the national economy. Private investors will receive a three-year tax break on personal income from digital asset transactions, provided those assets are not tied to fraud, money laundering, or unlicensed crypto services.
Experts say attracting crypto owners back with incentives and simplified legal frameworks has become a global trend. The UAE, Hong Kong, and Singapore have implemented similar tax measures alongside clear licensing, regulations, and banking access, bringing in additional revenue.
