Kazakhstan's Regulated Crypto Market Surges Past $10 Billion
Kazakhstan's regulated cryptocurrency market has experienced explosive growth in recent years. According to official figures, transaction volume surged past $10 billion by the end of 2025, a thirtyfold increase from $320 million in 2023. The customer base has also expanded significantly, with over 270,000 users now on regulated platforms.
Yerkegali Yedenbayev, managing director of the Astana Financial Services Authority, noted that the first six months of 2026 alone produced $5.5 billion in regulated crypto transactions. This growth is attributed to a combination of tax incentives and a functional licensing regime.
The government's strategy aims to bring Kazakhstani citizens' estimated 1 million cryptocurrency wallets back from offshore exchanges onto locally regulated platforms. Binance has recently selected Kazakhstan as a dedicated hub for cross-border settlements and money transfers, further validating the country's regulatory approach.
