Keel Infrastructure Dismantles Bitcoin Mining Ops Amid AI Shift
Keel Infrastructure has undergone a drastic transformation in its business strategy, shifting focus from bitcoin mining to artificial intelligence infrastructure.
The company's CEO, Ben Gagnon, described the bitcoin business as 'strong' just 15 months ago, but now it is undergoing a complete demolition of its bitcoin mining facilities. This pivot comes after a significant decline in bitcoin prices and an increase in demand for AI compute.
Keel sold 1,085 BTC for $75 million between April 1 and August 7, leaving the company with 1,861 BTC on its balance sheet. The decision to wind down the bitcoin business was made due to the realization that there is a greater value in converting assets into AI infrastructure.
