Keel, PowerSecure Team Up for Backup Power at AI-Focused Moses Lake Data Center
Keel Infrastructure (NASDAQ: KEEL) has partnered with PowerSecure to provide backup power for its Moses Lake data center campus in Washington. This deal is part of Keel's plan to convert the site from bitcoin mining to artificial intelligence high-performance computing.
The agreement involves PowerSecure designing and delivering a standby power system that can expand alongside the campus. The companies started working together earlier this year, but details such as the contract value, generation capacity, or installation schedule have not been disclosed.
Keel is developing Moses Lake into an 18-megawatt facility after stopping bitcoin mining there on April 28. As of August 7, the site had not yet begun high-performance computing operations or generated related revenue, according to Keel's quarterly filing. The backup system will use PowerSecure's modular PowerBlocks, which combine onsite generation, controls, and electrical infrastructure.
PowerSecure said the companies' agreement follows equipment deliveries as Keel prepares the campus for computing customers. In its August 10 earnings update, Keel reported that the first Vertiv modules had arrived at Moses Lake, alongside other equipment with long delivery times.
