Kenya Secures Academic Records on Blockchain with Avalanche
Kenya's education system has taken a significant leap forward with the introduction of a blockchain-based platform to secure national academic credentials. The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has partnered with Avalanche technology to build a system that anchors historical and current examination records on the Avalanche C-Chain.
The project, which covers records dating back to 1989, aims to reduce dependence on slow manual checks and separate institutional databases. Currently, over 15 million academic records are stored on the platform, with the goal of reaching around 35 million nationwide.
Employers and universities can now verify examination records within seconds through a dedicated secure portal. The system also enables candidates to access, download, and verify their digital certificates online.
