Kenya's Crypto User Base Skyrockets to 733,300
Kenya's cryptocurrency market has experienced rapid growth over the past decade, driven by increasing interest in alternative investments and easier access to trading platforms. According to Statista, the number of users rose from just 10,400 in 2017 to an estimated 729,200 in 2024.
The steepest growth occurred between 2020 and 2024, as digital assets gained mainstream attention. Between 2020 and 2021, the user base expanded from 86,690 to 253,200, before increasing to 364,800 in 2022 and 493,500 in 2023.
While the growth continued into 2024 with an estimated 729,200 users, the pace slowed in 2025 with a predicted total of 733,300. Experts caution that cryptocurrencies remain highly volatile and largely unregulated, exposing investors to significant risks.
