Kenya's Treasury Cracks Down on Crypto Firms with New Regulations
The Treasury of Kenya has issued new regulations to govern stablecoin and tokenization issuers, virtual asset exchanges, wallet providers, brokers, managers, investment advisers, and payment processors.
The Virtual Asset Service Providers (VASP) Regulations, 2026, are subsidiary legislation for the Virtual Assets Service Providers Act 2025, which came into effect in November 2025.
The regulations cover various entities, including virtual asset exchanges such as Binance and Coinbase, wallet providers, tokenization businesses, stablecoin issuers, and virtual asset managers.
