KiiChain Halts Network After EVM Exploit Allows Funds to Flow Through Hyperlane
KiiChain's blockchain has been halted after an attacker exploited a vulnerability in its EVM module, allowing them to move funds through Hyperlane to BNB Smart Chain.
The attack occurred on Sunday and was facilitated by a flaw in the network's Cosmos SDK-based EVM layer. KiiChain had previously patched this software in July with a hotfix coordinated by Cosmos Labs.
This is not the first time that KiiChain has faced security issues, as it had already undergone a separate Hacken audit in July which identified 36 findings across its codebase, including seven high-severity vulnerabilities. The current attack will require a detailed post-mortem to determine how the attacker exploited the EVM module.
KiiChain is not alone in facing security breaches, as recent incidents have also affected MANTRA Chain, BounceBit, and Maya Protocol.
