Kiyosaki's $1.2 Billion Debt: A Strategic Move or Warning Sign?
Robert Kiyosaki, author of 'Rich Dad Poor Dad,' says he's $1.2 billion in debt tied to his real estate holdings, but views it as a strategic move rather than a warning sign.
In an interview with the Get Rich Education podcast, Kiyosaki stated that being heavily indebted is not a problem for him, but for the banks: 'If you owe the bank $20 million and you can't pay it back, you got a problem. But you owe the bank $1 billion and you can't pay it back, it's their problem.'
The $1.2 billion debt is not Kiyosaki's personal liability alone, as it finances approximately 1,500 apartment units and a portfolio of hotels held by a group of real estate investors that includes Kiyosaki and his partners.
Kiyosaki has built a career on selling financial education, and his comfort with massive leverage is similar to how he's talked about Bitcoin for years. He remains an outspoken Bitcoin bull and continues to buy it even as its price has moved from deep drawdowns back toward the $77,000 range this year.
