Korea Unveils Three-Phase Plan for Tokenized Securities
South Korea's Financial Services Commission (FSC) has unveiled a three-phase roadmap for the issuance of tokenized assets. The country is preparing to adopt its first tokenized securities framework in February 2027, after an update to the Act on Electronic Registration of Stocks and Bonds takes effect.
The FSC plans to introduce legal recognition for tokenized securities, including institutional money market funds, bonds, unlisted stocks, and fractional investment securities. In phase one, these assets will be recognized as digitized forms of securities.
Phase two will expand tokenization to all publicly offered securities, while phase three aims to link on-chain payments with stablecoins.
