Korean Police Arrest Four Uzbek Nationals over Alleged Terror Support

Four Uzbek nationals have been arrested in South Korea on charges of sending cryptocurrency and vehicles to a UN-designated terrorist group operating in Syria.

The suspects, including one who was wanted by Interpol, allegedly sent $6.3 million worth of USDT (Tether) cryptocurrency to Katibat al-Tawhid wal-Jihad (KTJ), also known as KTJ, between August 2024 and April 2025.

According to police, the ringleader entered South Korea in 2017 on a student visa but overstayed his welcome. He used complex methods to avoid detection, rotating cryptocurrency wallets and using an account under his spouse's name to obscure the source of funds.
