Kospi Surges 17% as Bitcoin Holds Firm Amid Global Market Rally
A historic surge in South Korea's Kospi index on Friday saw it jump 17%, driven by chip stocks, but Bitcoin remained unaffected at around $64,300.
The index's rebound was fueled by semiconductor names such as Samsung and SK Hynix, which both jumped more than 23% and Taiwan Semiconductor rose 10%.
In a separate incident, a key generation flaw in Coldcard hardware wallets resulted in approximately 594 Bitcoin being stolen from around 500 wallets, worth roughly $38 million.
Barring BNB, which rose 3% on the day to $590 and posted the only meaningful weekly gain among major tokens, most cryptocurrencies showed minimal price changes despite the global equity rebound.
