Kraken Beats Binance in AI Recommendations Despite Volume Gap
A new study by citeOS has found that Kraken outperformed Binance in AI recommendations, despite Binance's significantly larger trading volume. The study analyzed the performance of five AI engines - ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, and Google AI Mode - on 20 buyer-style prompts related to cryptocurrency exchanges.
The results showed that Kraken was recommended by three out of the five AI engines, while Coinbase took second place overall. Binance, which handles around $9 billion in daily spot volume, surprisingly placed third in AI recommendations. The study's methodology involved running each prompt three times per engine and analyzing the results to determine the ranking.
The findings suggest that AI engines do not necessarily recommend exchanges based on their trading volume or liquidity. Instead, they appear to be influenced by editorial presence and regulatory framing. For example, Kraken and Coinbase have a long history of US regulatory coverage, which may contribute to their high rankings in AI recommendations.
