Kraken Blocks Accounts Amid HTX-Linked Dust Attack

Kraken's customer accounts were temporarily restricted after nearly 12,000 small cryptocurrency transfers were made to them in what the exchange described as a 'dust attack'. This activity was attributed to an address associated with HTX by blockchain analytics firm Arkham Intelligence.

The transfers took place between August 17 and August 24, with most transactions valued at only a few cents or dollars. Kraken continues to hold the sanctioned funds.

HTX rejected responsibility for the transactions, stating that it is investigating whether they stemmed from incorrect wallet attribution or deliberate activity by an outside actor.
