Kraken Expands Beyond Crypto with US Stock Trading for Europeans
Crypto exchange Kraken is expanding its reach beyond digital assets by introducing US stock trading services to eligible European customers. This move comes as part of the company's vision to establish a broader financial platform, allowing investors to access multiple asset classes without moving capital or changing platforms.
The service has been launched across the European Economic Area (EEA), where users can now trade over 7,000 US-listed stocks alongside 600 cryptocurrencies and 700 xStocks. This is made possible through Kraken's Cyprus-based entity, Payward Europe Digital Solutions (CY) Limited, which holds MiFID II authorization.
Kraken's Chief Commercial Officer, Mark Greenberg, stated that this move eliminates the artificial divide between traditional and tokenized formats of the same asset. With US-listed stocks and xStocks available side-by-side in a single regulated account, customers can choose how they access the same underlying exposure.
The company has already established a strong presence in Europe, having launched its xStocks product services across the region last year. Kraken is now looking to deepen its European footprint with this new offering, competing with other prominent platforms that offer multiple financial services.
