Kraken Expands European Offering with 7,000 US Stocks and xStocks
Kraken has expanded its services to European investors by offering over 7,000 US-listed stocks in addition to its tokenized xStocks and crypto assets. The platform now provides a single regulated account for customers to access both conventional shares and xStocks, allowing them to choose how they engage with the same underlying exposure.
The launch follows a limited introduction in Germany, France, and the Netherlands, marking Kraken's first expansion of its traditional equities business outside the US. Eligible EEA customers can now buy shares listed on NYSE, Nasdaq, AMEX, and other US venues through Kraken Pro on desktop and mobile, as well as the main Kraken mobile app.
Kraken has introduced xStocks, a tokenized representation of conventional equities that do not carry shareholder rights. These tokens offer price exposure, wallet portability, 24-hour weekday trading, and collateral utility but no ownership or voting rights. The company claims over $38 billion in transaction volume since June 2025 for the products.
The service is provided by Payward Europe Digital Solutions (CY) Limited under MiFID II authorization in Cyprus, with no trading commissions under applicable terms. Conventional shares carry shareholder rights, including voting and dividend distributions, while xStocks respond differently to corporate events. When a company pays a dividend, conventional shareholders may receive cash, whereas xStock holders get the relevant net distribution through additional units of the same token.
The expansion comes as tokenized equities capture a larger share of the real-world asset market, accounting for approximately 15% of RWA activity and reaching around $2.8 billion in total market capitalization. Kraken's positioning differs from competing European platforms like Bitpanda, Robinhood, and Crypto.com.
