Kraken Expands US Stock Trading to European Investors
Kraken has opened up more than 7,000 U.S. stocks to European investors, allowing them to trade commission-free on its platform. The rollout combines traditional equities with tokenized stocks and crypto assets within one regulated account.
This move eliminates the divide between traditional and tokenized formats of the same asset, according to Mark Greenberg, chief commercial officer of Payward and head of Payward Services. With U.S.-listed stocks and xStocks available side-by-side in a single regulated account, customers can choose how they access the same underlying exposure.
Kraken offers traditional shares through its MiFID authorization with Payward Europe Digital Solutions (CY) Limited, a Cyprus investment firm regulated by the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission. This separates securities services from Kraken's crypto operations under the Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation.
