Kraken Parent Payward Delays IPO Amid Cryptocurrency Market Slump
Kraken's parent company, Payward, has delayed its initial public offering (IPO) until at least the second quarter of 2027. The reason for this delay is the current state of the crypto market, with prices down and trading slow.
Prior to the decision, Payward had lined up a major funding round and even filed for an IPO last year, but the tough crypto climate has made it rethink its timing. This is not unique to Payward, as other companies such as Grayscale and Consensys have also faced similar challenges.
Despite this setback, Payward has been expanding through acquisitions and growth. It has acquired Bitnomial and Reap, and managed to boost revenue by 17% in the second quarter of 2026. Its platform assets stood at $40 billion, and funded accounts shot up 42%, showing it is staying strong despite the slump.
