Kraken Unveils Euro Expansion for Regulated Crypto Options
Kraken is expanding its derivatives business by planning to launch European-style options for eligible European clients later in 2026. The exchange has already launched Bitcoin [BTC] and Ethereum [ETH] options on July 16, with weekly, monthly, quarterly, and semi-annual expiries available through a request-for-quote system.
The rollout will mark the next step in Kraken's push into regulated crypto derivatives and is expected to strengthen its position in Europe's growing market. The exchange has not yet announced a launch date or specified which European jurisdictions will receive access first, although it has obtained regulatory approvals in Cyprus and Ireland.
Kraken's options platform allows eligible clients to manage collateral more efficiently across different trading strategies through a single portfolio-margined wallet. This could simplify risk management for institutions and active traders while offering another regulated venue for crypto options trading.
