Kraken's Delisting Deadline Sparks Fallback Exchange Conundrum
Kraken has announced that it will be delisting 21 assets by August 27th, 2026. This means that holders of these tokens have until then to withdraw them from their Kraken account. After this deadline, Kraken will automatically sell the remaining balances and credit the proceeds.
The practical question now is where holders can send these tokens after withdrawal. We analyzed six major European exchanges - Bitvavo, Coinbase, Bitpanda, Bitstamp, Kraken, and Bitfinex - to see if they listed any of the 21 delisted assets with an enabled deposit status.
For 16 of the 21 tokens, we found no exchange that carried an enabled entry on August 21st. This means that holders of these tokens will need to use a self-custody wallet to keep their holdings safe. The four tokens that had at least one possible destination exchange were FARM (Coinbase and Bitpanda), BOND (Bitpanda), SAROS (Bitpanda), and SPC (Bitpanda).
Interestingly, the delisted assets on Kraken's list have mostly thin markets, which makes it harder for holders to move their tokens elsewhere. In contrast, the 13 assets being removed from Bitfinex trading by August 31st have more established listings at multiple exchanges.
