Kraken's IPO Saga Continues: Another Delay to April 2027

Share

Kraken's initial public offering (IPO) has been delayed yet again, this time to at least April 2027. The exchange has been hyping its IPO for over half a decade, and was previously very confident it would go public in 2022.

In April 2021, Kraken CEO Jesse Powell told CNBC that the exchange was looking at going public 'sometime next year'. However, by June 2021, he reconsidered a direct listing after Coinbase's debut and delayed slightly to a 'second half' of 2022 prediction.

Despite numerous delays, Payward, the parent company of Kraken, submitted a draft IPO document to the SEC on Form S-1 in November 2025. However, by March 2026, CoinDesk reported that Payward had put the IPO on hold and was unlikely to proceed.

In May 2026, Co-CEO Arjun Sethi confirmed formal IPO filings without naming an updated listing date. However, within two weeks, Bloomberg reported that the IPO would push back to 2027.
