Kraken's IPO Saga Hits Six Years: Delayed Again to 2027

Share

Kraken's initial public offering (IPO) has been delayed yet again. The exchange was initially expected to go public in 2022, but CEO Jesse Powell told CNBC in April 2021 that it would happen sometime next year.

By June 2021, Powell reconsidered a direct listing after Coinbase's debut and predicted the IPO would take place in the second half of 2022. However, by September 2022, incoming CEO Dave Ripley stated that there was no specificity on IPO plans they could share.

The year ended with only delays and no IPO. In June 2024, Bloomberg reported that Kraken was raising 'final' pre-IPO financing for an IPO that never happened. Then, in March 2025, the same outlet reported that Payward, the parent company of Kraken, was re-scheduling its IPO for January-March 2026.
