Kraken's kHYPE Expands Hyperliquid Utility Amid Whale's $159M Stake
Kraken's kHYPE utility has expanded, allowing users of Hyperliquid (HYPE) to use it as collateral in decentralized financial transactions on the platform Ink. The new token, kHYPE, is created in a 1:1 ratio with HYPE and held in segregated accounts to prevent uncollateralized token issuance.
The creation of kHYPE also enables publicly verifiable reserve reporting, ensuring that each mint of kHYPE remains fully collateralized. Furthermore, there are no fees associated with redeeming kHYPE, which may encourage users to move their assets between Kraken and Ink, increasing liquidity outside the central marketplace.
A large whale investor has also shown significant confidence in HYPE by staking its entire $159 million position in 0x8e48's wallets. This removal of tokens from the open market could potentially lead to greater opportunities for upward price movement if demand increases in the future.
