Kraken's kHYPE Token Expands Hyperliquid Utility Amid Whale's $159M Stake
Kraken has expanded its Hyperliquid utility through the creation of a new token called kHYPE, which is directly linked to HYPE. This allows users to use HYPE as collateral in decentralized financial transactions on the platform Ink, while maintaining a 1:1 ratio with HYPE.
The creation of kHYPE eliminates the possibility of uncollateralized token issuance and enables publicly verifiable reserve reporting. Additionally, there is no fee associated with redeeming kHYPE, which may encourage users to move their assets between Kraken and Ink, increasing liquidity outside the central marketplace.
However, once kHYPE has been redeemed, it cannot be utilized again for generating additional Kraken staking rewards. Users must decide whether they want to earn income or create DeFi-based utility with their holdings.
