KSNet Joins Solana Foundation to Trial Blockchain Payments in South Korea
South Korean fintech giant KSNet has partnered with the Solana Foundation to test blockchain payments and AI-driven transaction systems for the country's financial market.
The agreement, announced on July 30, brings together KSNet's domestic payment network and Solana's blockchain infrastructure to evaluate digital asset payments that can work alongside South Korea's existing financial system.
As part of the first proof-of-concept, KSNet will test the integration of Solana Pay with its merchant network, examining whether the payment standard can operate within South Korea's existing payment environment while remaining compatible with local merchant infrastructure.
The companies also plan to incorporate anti-money laundering (AML) controls into the payment system and connect blockchain-based settlements with KSNet's existing won settlement network.
A second proof-of-concept under the agreement focuses on artificial intelligence payments using the x402 protocol, which allows AI agents to make small payments automatically when accessing APIs or paid online services without relying on conventional logins or credit card authentication.
