Kyrgyzstan Cracks Down on Crypto Crime Amid Regulatory Push
Kyrgyzstan's authorities have intensified their efforts to combat crypto-related crimes, with over 90 cases opened between January and September 2026.
The surge in crypto transactions has raised concerns about money laundering and embezzlement schemes, with Interior Minister Ulan Niyazbekov stating that criminal networks are incorporating cryptocurrencies into illicit activities.
In response to the growing threat, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the National Bank signed an agreement on June 5, 2026, to freeze suspicious transactions immediately.
The government is also promoting a regulatory framework to establish Kyrgyzstan as a regional fintech hub, with President Sadyr Japarov backing the launch of two stablecoins: USDKG and KGST.
