Hunter Biden's cryptocurrency, called $LAPTOP, has taken a sharp turn downwards in its first few days of trading.

The meme coin surged from $37 when it launched on Tuesday to nearly $225 at its peak, but by midday on the same day it had fallen to around $2. By Thursday, it was trading at just $0.60, down 98% since its debut.

This rollercoaster ride is all too familiar for those watching the meme coin space, with some accusing Hunter Biden of a 'rug pull', where a creator sells their assets at the peak and leaves investors holding the bag.

Hunter Biden himself took to social media platform X to address the accusations, stating that technical issues and 'predatory' traders had caused the price spike, which has since stabilized to 'healthy levels'. However, critics remain skeptical, pointing out that this is just the latest in a line of meme coins launched by politicians to soar and quickly plummet.
