$LAPTOP Launch Ignites Firestorm as Hunter Biden Takes Aim at Trump's Token
Hunter Biden, son of former US President Joe Biden, has announced his entry into the cryptocurrency market with the launch of the memecoin $LAPTOP. The token's release has brought controversy from critics who point to the laptop controversy that surrounded Hunter Biden before the 2020 presidential election.
In response to these criticisms, Hunter Biden stated on X platform that he transformed a symbol used against him into a token, saying 'They turned the laptop into a weapon. I turned it into a token.'
Biden emphasized that $LAPTOP should not be seen solely as a financial investment but carries a message, both political and cultural.
The $LAPTOP project is set to launch on September 9, 2026, on the Base network developed by Coinbase. The total supply of tokens is allocated as follows: 20% for community airdrops, 30% for founders, 30% for a prediction mechanism based on real-world events, 10% for liquidity, 5% for the foundation treasury, and 5% for direct charitable causes.
Biden also took a swipe at US President Donald Trump's own memecoin project, stating that 'Trump destroyed trust in everything he touched. But my token won't be like that.'
