$LAPTOP Launch Sparks Memecoin Mania Amid Copycats and Security Concerns
Hunter Biden is launching a memecoin called $LAPTOP on September 9. The token's total supply is 1 billion, with 30% going to the founding team, who will lock their tokens for six months after launch and release them over the following two years.
A fifth of the supply goes to airdrops, which will pay wallets holding losses on TRUMP, a memecoin issued in President Trump's name three days before his second inauguration. The list also includes Biden's Substack subscribers and a mailing list kept by video journalist Andrew Callaghan.
However, copycat tokens have already begun trading on various networks, including Robinhood Chain, Solana, TON, and BNB Chain. These tokens traded $6.9 million within the hour, despite not being the official $LAPTOP token.
