Hunter Biden, son of US President Joe Biden, is set to launch a meme coin called $LAPTOP in the cryptocurrency market. The token's name is a reference to the infamous laptop controversy during the 2020 presidential campaign.

The announcement follows Hunter Biden's July Substack post, where he challenged the laptop's provenance and chain of custody while acknowledging it contained records from a period when he was struggling with addiction.

The coin appears to be aimed in part at President Donald Trump, a longtime political foe of the Biden family. It is scheduled to launch on Base, Coinbase's blockchain network, on Tuesday.
