LAPTOP Memecoin Launch Ignites Controversy Ahead of September 9 Debut
Hunter Biden's new memecoin project, LAPTOP, is generating controversy ahead of its September 9 launch on Base. The token will allocate 30% of its supply to founders and 20% across two airdrops, with the latter targeting wallets that lost money trading Official Trump and Hunter Biden's Substack subscribers.
The project also ties 30% of its supply to various outcomes, including Bitcoin reaching a new all-time high. Tokens assigned to successful outcomes will be burned, while allocations tied to failed outcomes will go to charity.
Base creator Jesse Pollak rejected claims that Base is involved with the project, stating that it's permissionless and neither he nor Coinbase can prevent an independent developer from deploying a token on the network.
