LAPTOP Memecoin Ties Supply to Trump-Related Events
Hunter Biden has launched a memecoin called LAPTOP on Coinbase's Base network. The token's ticker was confirmed by Biden, and it is now trading on the Ethereum layer-2 network with a fixed supply of 1 billion tokens. Founders, including Biden, hold 30% of the supply, locked for six months and vesting over two years.
The airdrop accounts for 20% of the supply and includes wallets holding losses on TRUMP coin, as well as subscribers to Biden's Substack and a mailing list run by video journalist Andrew Callaghan. The remaining 30% of supply is earmarked for burning if 30 specified events resolve in the project's favor.
The LAPTOP token positions itself against Trump's political brand, with its launch coinciding with the 2020 story behind the ticker. The laptop at a Delaware repair shop contained emails about Hunter Biden's work with Ukrainian energy company Burisma and personal photos that surfaced during Joe Biden's presidency.
