$LapTop Takes Aim at Trump's Crypto Empire with Meme Coin Launch
Hunter Biden's new cryptocurrency meme coin, $LAPTOP, is set to launch on September 9th on the Base digital ledger developed by Coinbase Global. This comes after his father, former US President Joe Biden, posted a compilation clip on X highlighting the sensation that followed after the discovery of Hunter's laptop in 2020.
The device contained details about Hunter's foreign business dealings, which sparked controversy ahead of the 2020 presidential election. In separate X posts, Hunter described decentralized digital assets as 'the inevitable future' and weighed in on the dispute between World Liberty Financial and Justin Sun.
The founders of $LAPTOP will hold 30% of the total 1 billion token supply, which will be locked for six months and vest fully in two years. Another 20% of the tokens will go to crypto wallets of victims who lost money on the $TRUMP meme coin, subscribers to Hunter's Substack, and a mailing list created by journalist Andrew Callaghan.
The $LAPTOP token founders will reportedly destroy up to 30% of the meme coin supply if a series of 30 events with predetermined outcomes do not materialize within a stipulated time frame. This could potentially ramp up the value of the token. If none of the events occur, a proportionate amount of tokens will be donated to charity.
The remaining 20% of the tokens will go to charity, used for liquidity purposes, as well as to cover accounting, legal, and compliance costs. The launch of $LAPTOP takes aim at Trump's multibillion-dollar crypto empire, but potential investors should be cautious about any 'rug pull' or 'pump and dump' activity.
