$LAPTOP Token Fails to Launch Amid Controversy and Technical Issues
Hunter Biden's redemption tour has taken an unexpected turn with the launch of his new cryptocurrency token, $LAPTOP.
The coin was unveiled on a blockchain developed by Coinbase and made available for users to buy and trade across exchanges like Pump and Fomo. Biden claimed that even this is one more chapter in the life story he wishes to own himself.
Biden's team first teased the coin with a Labor Day video montage, which included media clips where conservatives like President Donald Trump brought up the laptop. Half of the 1 billion total $LAPTOP tokens will be reserved for specific purposes, including distribution to users among three different channels: subscribers to Biden's Substack, members of Channel 5 influencer Andrew Callaghan's email listserv, and buyers of the chief executive's $TRUMP meme coin who lost money from their investment.
The token's value skyrocketed in its first few hours, reaching a peak valuation of over $200 before plummeting to a bottom-feeding price of $1.30. Biden blamed 'technical difficulties' for the swings in prices in a follow-up tweet and Medium post.
