LAPTOP Token Leaves 4 in 5 Traders Drowning in Losses
Hunter Biden's token launch, LAPTOP, has left nearly 80% of traders underwater within hours. The token was marketed as an antidote to memecoin grift and a way for those who lost money on TRUMP to recoup their losses.
The numbers are stark: out of 15,206 traders, only 3,026 were profitable, while 29 were at break-even or held positions that couldn't be priced. The majority of the losses were relatively small, but a few traders lost significant amounts: 726 wallets down between $1,000 and $10,000, 112 lost between $10,000 and $100,000, and two were down between $100,000 and $1 million.
LAPTOP's proponents claim that the token will include an airdrop for some of those burned investors. However, it seems that the economics of the token are more complicated than initially thought. The thin liquidity meant relatively small trades could move its quoted price dramatically, producing an enormous theoretical valuation of $144 billion.
