Lavrov Arrives in New Delhi for Crucial BRICS Summit Talks
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov arrived in New Delhi on Thursday to attend the 18th BRICS Summit. He was joined by First Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Denis Manturov, who also traveled to India for the summit.
The summit marks a significant event for the global community, with BRICS countries accounting for around 49.5% of the world's population and 40% of its GDP.
According to Kremlin officials, Russian President Vladimir Putin will address the plenary session of the annual BRICS Business Forum on September 11. He is also scheduled to hold bilateral talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday, focusing on strategic trade resilience, cross-border payment mechanisms, energy security, and conflict-resolution pathways.
The discussions are expected to cover ongoing geopolitical tensions in Eastern Europe and West Asia. Putin will also visit the INNOPROM exhibition, organized by the industry and trade ministries of Russia and India.
