Law Firms and Crypto Wallets Under Siege: Cyberattacks Rise
A recent incident has highlighted the growing threat of cyberattacks on law firms and crypto wallet providers. Greenberg Traurig, an international law firm, confirmed that a limited number of its documents had been posted on the dark web after an unauthorized actor accessed them.
The breach is part of a larger trend of cyber incidents affecting law firms in 2025. According to BakerHostetler, nearly 60 cybersecurity incidents were handled by the firm involving law firms last year, almost twice the number it handled in 2024. Phishing was the leading cause of these incidents, accounting for 30%.
Crypto wallet providers have also been targeted by cyberattacks. In May 2025, Coinbase disclosed that criminals had bribed overseas support agents to obtain customer information, affecting 69,461 users. The breach included names, addresses, phone numbers, and images of government IDs, but passwords, private keys, and customer funds were not compromised.
