LayerZero and Keeta Unveil Natively Transferable Tokenized Bank Deposits
Tokenized bank deposits are no longer just a theory but an imminent reality. LayerZero and Keeta have announced that they will enable natively transferable tokenized commercial bank deposits across multiple chains, including Keeta Network, Ethereum, Solana, and Base.
The nine fiat units planned for launch in July 2026 include USD, EUR, JPY, CNY, GBP, CAD, MXN, AED, and HKD. These tokens will be backed by commercial bank deposits held via Bivo, a U.S.-licensed fintech with access to domestic payment rails and a partner-bank network.
LayerZero's Omnichain Fungible Token (OFT) standard will facilitate the transfer of these tokens across chains, ensuring that supply is coordinated and the total stays consistent. This native movement will cover a significant portion of real activity, including EVM liquidity, Solana throughput, and payments on Keeta Network.
The benefits of this innovation are numerous, particularly for payment apps, FX desks, on-chain treasurers, and builders needing multi-currency settlement without leaving crypto rails. However, it's essential to note that legal claims, redemption rules, KYC, and freeze controls depend on the issuer's documents, and deposit insurance or guaranteed redemption may not be assumed.
