LayerZero Surpasses World's Largest Remittance Corridor
The omnichain messaging protocol, LayerZero, has surpassed the annual transaction volume of the world's largest individual remittance corridor, which is between the US and Mexico. This corridor sees roughly $62 billion flow annually, making it the single largest individual remittance route in the world.
LayerZero carries instructions that move assets across blockchains without holding them itself, much like a postal service for banks. The protocol powers Stargate, which has historically processed upwards of $70 billion in transactions since its inception, with cumulative bridge activity exceeding $147 billion.
The stablecoin engine underneath LayerZero has seen payment volumes reach $390 billion in 2025, more than double previous levels. Latin America saw an 89% annual increase in stablecoin activity, with remittances playing a meaningful role in that surge.
