LayerZero Unveils ATLAS Exchange Infrastructure on Zero Blockchain
LayerZero has introduced ATLAS, a headless exchange engine that allows trading venues to share a backend for matching, clearing, settlement, and risk management. This infrastructure is built on top of Zero, a blockchain unveiled by LayerZero in February 2026 in partnership with Citadel Securities, DTCC, and Intercontinental Exchange.
ATLAS ships in two configurations: Open ATLAS for crypto-native trading apps and prediction markets, and Institutional ATLAS for banks or exchanges to set their own rules for traders. Both are built directly on top of Zero, combining the benefits of centralized and decentralized exchanges.
In stress tests, LayerZero reported sub-millisecond median latency, with 1.418 milliseconds at the 95th percentile and 2.641 milliseconds at the 99th. ATLAS also routes 75% of post-venue trading fees into ZRO buybacks and burns, tying the token's fee capture to trading volume.
LayerZero has not set an exact launch date for ATLAS, but several venues, including GTE, Bullish, DefinedFi, and TrueNorth, are already building on Open ATLAS. This marks a shift from moving assets between blockchains to running the machinery underneath the venues where those assets trade.
